All FROST medical examiners are listed on the FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners - a federal requirement since 2014 that not all providers meet.
We complete the MER (MCSA-5875) and MEC (MCSA-5876), provide your drivers with their certificate, and assist with California DMV CDL Unit submission. No paperwork left for you to figure out.
Fleet safety managers can schedule multiple drivers in coordinated back-to-back appointments at our San Jose clinic. We work around your operational schedule to minimize downtime.
Many employers require a separate DOT urine drug screen alongside the physical. FROST can conduct both on the same visit, streamlining compliance and saving your team a second appointment.
FROST oversees the initial and annual compliance screening for over 5,000 EMS workers in California, including on-site mobile services for EMS agencies as part of broader CalOSHA compliance programs. Our team understands first responder health standards at a level no urgent care clinic can match.
Our Medical Director is a Stanford-trained, Board Certified Pulmonary Physician with decades of occupational and transportation medicine experience.
The DOT physical has a number of required aspects. We test against all of these as part of our complete service package.
At least 20/40 acuity in each eye with or without glasses/contacts and 70-degree peripheral vision. Ability to perceive a "forced whisper" from 5 feet or less.
140/90 or lower. Higher readings may be OK but may require frequent monitoring and reduced duration of certification.

Note: Poorly controlled diabetes, unmanaged hypertension, active epilepsy, and certain cardiovascular conditions may result in disqualification or conditional certification. Drivers with managed conditions should bring complete medical records and current
medication lists to their exam. FROST examiners are experienced in evaluating complex medical histories and will explain all
options clearly.
